Two Class Wins for Team SERC

Students from the Motorsport Engineering Academy (MEA), currently completing the Level 3 in Motorsport Engineering at SERC’s Bangor Campus, recently celebrated two class wins at the ANICC Northern Ireland Sprint Championship 2025 hosted at Nutts Corner Circuit.
The student and staff team won in Class 13 - Racing Cars complying with Formula VW or Club Formula Ford (Formula Ford 1600); and in Class 16a - Road cars Historic Road Going Saloons and Sportscars (Chevrolet Corvette).
Stuart Parker, Lecturer & Course Coordinator, Motorsport Engineering Academy said, “The two class wins demonstrate the skills of our students in the competition, when they took on the role of Pit Crew and participated in preparing the Formula Ford for this event.
He added, “The Pit Crew are responsible for completing race car preparation. This includes chassis set-up and loading before the event. Team Leader Emelie Du Boulay, (17) from Lisburn, took the lead for overall direction of team actions during the day, working closely with the Pit Team to resolve any issues, assisting driver, and changing set-up in light of weather conditions and race tactics.
Stuart continued, “Regardless of final position on the day, gaining experience and soaking in the racing environment is the real win for everyone taking part. Competitions like these reinforce that the Pit Crew really are doing a great job – this is a real competition, not a video game. But of course, a class win brings top points to add to the championship table."
The Pit Crew will now hand over the car to another Pit Crew from the Level 3 Motorsport, in preparation for another competition in a few weeks.
