Michael to address OWL delegates

A SERC Lecturer is set to speak at the Optimised Waste & Logistics (OWL) Roadshow at Titanic Belfast on 13 October 2022.

Michael Hutchinson, based at the College’s Lisburn Campus, specialises in heavy goods vehicles and has 25 years of industry experience with extensive electrical and mechanical maintenance and repair knowledge. Michael Lecturers in Level 2 and 3 Heavy and Light Vehicle, and Level 4 Maintenance. Michael is a fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry, an Education Officer and a Committee member for the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) in Northern Ireland, and an Elected Member of the IRTE professional sector council. As a passionate educator, Michael is keen to assist with transitioning towards green technologies within the transport industry.

Michael will be speaking about the future of heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.   He will be highlighting the skills the future technician will need, how a repair facility needs to prepare for Net Zero 2050, and future career paths in the transport industry.

Michael said, “As well as sharing my expertise, the OWL NI 2022 Roadshow gives me the opportunity to network, learn about the latest technology and bring sector leader expertise back to the students.”
