The Qualification Teacher Assessed Grade (QTAG) results have been submitted to and agreed by the Awarding Organisation and these results have now been issued to students.

Students have the right to appeal their Unit Teacher Assessed Grades (UTAG) if they meet one of the grounds for appeal. Top up students can appeal UTAGs for smaller qualifications.

Stages in the Appeals Process

There are two stages in the appeals process. Students must commence with Stage 1 which will be completed by SERC and if they remain dissatisfied, they may then progress to Stage 2.

Stage 1 – SERC Centre Review

Students must raise a concern with SERC by completing a Stage 1 Appeals form (link at bottom).

Stage 2 – Appeal to the Awarding Organisation

An appeal to the Awarding Organisation must be submitted by SERC on behalf of a student after Stage 1 has been completed.

Timelines and Dates

The deadline for submission of a Stage 1 SERC Centre Review is Thursday 27 January 2022.

The deadline for submission of a Stage 2 Awarding Organisation Appeal is Monday 14 February 2022.

Ground for Appeal

The four grounds for appeal are as follows:

  1. Awarding Organisation error appeals – UTAG grade issued by the Awarding Organisation does not match the grade submitted by SERC.
  2. Centre process appeals – Student believes SERC did not follow its policies in determining the UTAG, including where the student believes they should have been entitled to special consideration.
  3. Academic judgement grades appeal – Student believes SERC has not made a reasonable academic judgement of their work.
  4. Academic judgement selection of evidence – Student believes that the evidence used to produce the UTAG was not in keeping with SERC policy.
