Three SERC apprentices are currently competing at the IFSEC & FIREX Engineers of Tomorrow competition at EdExcel in London.

The competition helps raise the profile of engineering apprenticeships and the opportunities they represent within the fire and security sector.

Representing SERC are Matthew Blair (Ballinderry Upper) employed by BPS Fire & Security, Jamie Rusk (Lurgan) employed by DFS Fire & Security and Erjon Berisha (Belfast) employed by Ashdale.   The trio are all completing the Level 3 Apprenticeship NI Fire & Security course at Lisburn Campus under the tutelage of Robin Hamill.

Robin says, “This is a fantastic opportunity for these young men to showcase their skills against their peers from across the UK, and to some of the biggest names in fire and security engineering."

“The apprentices are all competing for a place in the esteemed WorldSkills UK Live competition, which takes place in London this November.”

Results of the competition will be announced at a gala dinner following the close of the IFSEC FIREX international conference.
