SERC’s Hairdressing and Barbering classes were recently visited by past students, who demonstrated several techniques on live models.

Level 3 Barbering alumni Charlie Smyth and Haz Omar visited the college in October to give students a better understanding of how to perform barbering and shaving techniques that are currently popular in the hair industry.

Charlie Smyth, who has recently started working at the newly opened Prestige Barber Shop in Lisburn, gave a demonstration on how to perform a burst fade hairstyle, while giving students advice on modern haircut techniques.

Haz Omar, who owns his own barber shop, Kingsway Barbers in Dunmurry, gave a demonstration to students on how to give a hot towel shave, giving students step by step instructions on how to perform the shave professionally, with the right tools.

SERC Lecturer in Hairdressing and Barbering June Robinson comments, “It was fantastic to see Haz and Charlie again, and even better to know about their success in the barbering industry, with both of them working hard in their shops. The students gained a lot of valuable information from them as they are both incredible at what they do.”
