Full of gratitude for the help she received during a difficult time in her life, SERC student Rachael Magill is looking to raise funds for Dunlewey Addiction Services and Action Mental Health (AMH) everybody, two charities close to her heart

Rachael is currently organising a raffle with many prizes and is in training to run the Baxtor’s Loch Ness marathon in October 2023 as part of her incredible fundraising efforts.

Dunlewey Addiction Services offers early intervention services for young people (aged 11 to 25 years old) and family members affected by alcohol, drugs, or other substance use, as well as counselling and training services for adults dealing with substance abuse and gambling addiction issues.

AMH EveryBODY aims to create greater awareness of eating disorders, reduce stigma and provide much needed support to both the individual affected, but also their family and friends.

Speaking about her own experiences and the help she received Rachael said “I entered a treatment centre just over a year ago, and when I left after 28 days, Dunlewey Addiction Services were there for me when I came out. They were extremely helpful, and when my time with them was coming to an end, my counsellor there, Niamh, encouraged me to self-refer to AMH everyBODY.

“I want to be an advocate for young people and show them that they can get sober and live a life free of alcohol and drugs. Today, thanks to the help of White Oaks, Dunlewey Addiction Services, and AMH everyBODY, I no longer have to pretend to be someone I'm not; instead, I get to learn, change, grow, and, most importantly, remain unapologetically authentic. I simply want to return what has been so generously given to me.”

The draw will be taking place on 20 December, tickets for the raffle are available for purchase at the SU Office in Lisburn. Alternatively, tickets can be bought via the paypal link here. Please leave your mobile number so you can be contacted about any prizes you may win.
