23 April 2020
Now more than ever, hygiene and self-care are very important; with this in mind, the SERC Beauty Lecturers have banded together to give you some tips and tutorials on giving yourself some quality quarantine care. This week is focused on hand care.
There are several ways to improve hand care, making them not only more hygienic, but also healthier in look and feel:
Cleanse (Daily)
- A hygiene cleanse with a gel or spray will help kill germs and make your hands feel cleaner and fresher.
Exfoliate/ Polish (Weekly)
- Applying an abrasive cream to your hands will remove dead skin cells as well as smooth and brighten the skin, improving absorption.
- Using a scrub, combine it with hand cream and sea salt to slough away dead skin.
Mask (Weekly)
- Apply a setting mask to your hands which dries to sooth, tone and moisturise the skin.
- Apply a cream mask to nourish and soften the skin.
- To make an effective homemade mask, combine 2 teaspoons of baking soda, 2 teaspoons of honey and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse.
Moisturise (Daily)
- Cuticle oil can be used to rub around the cuticle areas, massaging it in. For an effective homemade cuticle oil, combine a few drops of pure lavender oil and mix it in coconut oil.
- Rub hand and nail cream into the back of your hands and rub the back of your hands together to help moisturise.
- You can also apply the homemade cream that you will find out how to make next week, so stay tuned!
