SERC is getting ready to welcome potential students to our Open Evening for Full Time students from 4.00pm – 7.00pm on Wednesday 8 March 2023 at the College’s Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards Campuses.

Prospective students and their parents are welcome to come along to find out about the wide range of courses available at the College and to speak to expert lecturers about Further Education, Higher Education, Apprenticeships and Training programmes as well as experience live demonstrations in a range of subject areas.

Unlock your future at SERC with courses ranging from Level 1, for those with few qualifications who wish to develop skills and increase employability/change career; through to Level 6, for those who wish to study at a degree level. Depending on campus of study, subjects range from animal care to health and social care, applied science to engineering, culinary arts to cyber security and digital forensics, sport to creative media production and technology.

Visitors will receive guidance on the applications and admissions process, experience the state-of-the-art facilities on campus and find out more about SERC’s student welfare support services including pastoral care, student finance, careers service and the students’ union.  In addition, our learning support team will be on hand to advise and guide those who have a learning difficulty or disability.

Morgan Colton (21) from Bangor, Level 3 Business student said, “My experience at SERC has been incredible – the best I have ever had studying. I didn’t have much confidence in my ability to study before I came to SERC, but now I am achieving and have an unconditional offer for university. I now feel that I have the confidence to progress to that level, and do what I want to do, which is to eventually start my own marketing business.”

WorldSkills UK Gold Medallist, Alexander Wallace, a Level 3 Fire Systems Apprentice employed by Atlas World said, “It took me a while to get to where I am, but the finishing line is in sight, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship. For anyone interested in a trade with good employment prospects, I would advise them to find out about the apprenticeship route to see where it can take you, and I would certainly recommend the Fire Systems Apprenticeship. The best thing is that you are working and earning, gaining a valuable and respected qualification, and you won’t have the burden of student loans or debt.”

Booking is not required for the open evening but to assist with planning potential visitors are invited to register their interest.
