The Learning Academy is excited to announce the dates of Open Classroom Week, taking place from 9th-13th November 2020.
Open Classroom Week aims to promote reflection and conversation about learning and teaching. All classroom (or online!) visits are “friendly” – there is no formal evaluation process, or feedback required. Hosts and visitors are encouraged to talk about the experience after the class, and share learning takeaways.
During Open Classrooms Week colleagues can visit each other’s classrooms and:
- Experience different teaching environments and practices
- Encourage a dialogue across departments/programs
- Gain insight into the student experience
- Be inspired by teaching styles and approaches of other lecturers
- See how learners interact in different environments
All classes will continue as normal – there is no expectation of ‘special classes’ or any additional paperwork.
Benefits for hosts:
- Opportunity to share good practice, and open a discussion around teaching
- Meet colleagues from different areas/schools/departments to share ideas and perhaps start to look at collaborative projects and activities
Benefits for visitors:
- Gain insight into the student experience
- Be inspired by seeing other curriculum areas and teaching styles
- Opportunities to collaborate with your colleagues
If you would like to volunteer to be a host for Open Classroom Week, please get in touch with the Learning Academy, and keep an eye out for the Call for Hosts coming soon.
Once sessions are confirmed, there will be an opportunity to sign up to visit classes. Visits are open for academic and corporate staff.
