The Entrepreneurs Club Innovation Fund competition seen students from various disciplines come forward to present their innovative ideas to the Enterprise and Entrepreneurship team online. Congratulations to all who entered this opportunity for funding and well done to those that got through to the pitching round, we look forward to supporting you to develop your ideas and businesses.
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment student Odhran Smyth successfully pitched to the judging panel by video call on Microsoft Teams, demonstrating his innovative idea to create a functional transportable work desk to help alleviate musculoskeletal conditions.
Odhran said "Due to a change in working conditions, most people are working from home and don’t have adequate desks to work at which can be uncomfortable and even damaging to your body. This funding will allow me to create a prototype for an adjustable and portable desk that I hope will provide a solution to inadequate working conditions.
"I am extremely grateful for this opportunity that was presented to me. I am also delighted that the panel could see the benefits of my product. Furthermore, I appreciate the funding that I will receive to make my idea a reality and to help me produce the prototype."
