2 million people in the UK are living with sight loss that is severe enough to have a significant impact on their daily lives. Over 50% of sight loss is preventable. Ensuring that we all have regular eye examinations will help prevent, or limit, the damage caused by certain eye conditions.

During a sight test, other health conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure may be detected as well as conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, which could lead to sight loss. In addition, evidence points to poor vision as a risk factor for falls.
