SERC recently welcomed Darren Staniforth and Jake Green from the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) to the Newtownards Campus to offer current electrical installation apprentices expert industry advice.

NICEIC is the biggest electrical quality assurance body in the UK who inspect the work of contractors, ensuring high quality of work and the health and safety of workers.

With almost 40 years of combined industry experience, Darren, NICEIC Group Senior Technical Presenter and Jake, NICEIC Marketing Technical Presenter provided students with valuable knowledge such as various career paths within the industry, health and safety advice and the importance of continuing further training and education whilst working.

Samuel Lyttle, Curriculum Manager for the School of Construction, Engineering Services and Skills for Work said, “It has been fantastic to have Darren and Jake come into the college and present to our students.   The opportunity to meet representatives from the UK’s biggest electrical quality assurance body face to face, receive training and ask questions has been extremely beneficial for our students, who took away invaluable information applicable to their current learning and future careers.”
