Marathon Success

While most of us look forward to a relaxing Sunday, perhaps enjoying a walk locally, staff from SERC’s Downpatrick Campus and a former employee, took on a somewhat faster pace to complete the Dublin City Marathon on 30 October.

Following months of preparation and training, the ladies joined almost 15,000 people from all over the world to put themselves to the test.

Marathon veterans, Mary Enright Gilles, Lecturer in Travel and Tourism, and Orla Tumelty (former Senior Marketing Officer), completed in 3:53 (a personal best) and 4:31 respectively.

Meanwhile Lisa O’Donnell, Lecturer in Beauty Therapy, and Julie George Careers Officer, made their Marathon debut in stunning style, with 4:25 and 4:05 on the clock respectively.

And in case you are feeling inspired, the lottery for places for next years’ Marathon on 29 October 2023, closes next Friday 18 November.
