SERC Lisburn LRC is delighted to host the ‘Re-fashioned’ art exhibition throughout January, which explores themes of sustainable fashion.

The exhibition is a collaborative collection of artwork created by students from Lisburn Campus’s Foundation Learning, Skills for Life and Work, Level 3 Year 2 Art and Design and Foundation Art and Design students.

The art pieces were originally created for a competition to mark European Week for Waste Reduction in November. This initiative aims to raise awareness of the environmental impact of fast fashion to highlight that a sustainable wardrobe can still be on trend. The students were challenged to take an item of clothing that they no longer wear, or one from a charity shop, and mend or transform it into a new piece of clothing or accessory. The resulting body of work was initially displayed at the Island Arts Centre in Lisburn and drew enormous praise from judges and organisers.

SERC Lisburn LRC is now delighted to host the collection until the end of January. Come to the Lisburn LRC to see the display, and while you’re there, pick up one of the Fabulous Fiction books from the Trust library, or ask staff about our e-books and e-resources - don't forget to follow us on Instagram for more LRC news and events.
