SERC students and staff gathered at Wallace Park in Lisburn to take part in a Colour Run for charity organised and hosted by students from Foundation Degree in Sports.

A total of £150 was raised with all proceeds being donated to Emerge Counselling Services, a new Lisburn-based suicide and self-harm prevention charity.

Event co-ordinator and student, Reece Irvine said, “This was an untimed, fun run where participants were showered with coloured powder from various stations throughout the run. The other team members and I worked hard to make this event successful. The feedback from participants has been excellent and we are so pleased that everyone had a great time.

He added, “We are delighted that the funds raised will go to Emerge Counselling Services who provide specialist support to those in need in the local community.”

Aimee Grant, SERC Lecturer in Sports Studies said, “The students really went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that this was an enjoyable, safe and successful event. Organising and implement a sporting event is a key part of the students’ coursework and throughout this process they showed excellent attention to detail and leadership skills which will be instrumental for future work in the industry.”
