SERC are offering an Accountancy apprenticeship programme which will help create 150 new jobs across Northern Ireland.
Successful applicants for the Higher Level Apprenticeship in Accountancy will have the opportunity to work and earn at least the minimum wage whilst they study for the for an industry recognised professional qualification. Typically, the two- year programme will mean the apprentices work in the sector, either in an accounting practice, financial services or a public sector organisation for four days a week and spend one day at SERC studying.
The programme, which is funded by the Department for the Economy, offers a level 5 Diploma for Accounting Technician award by Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI) and is equivalent to a Foundation Degree.
Jenny McConnell, SERC Deputy Head of School of Hospitality, Management, Tourism and Languages said, "The development of the apprenticeship demonstrates SERC's commitment to working with local business to ensure that our curriculum offer is both relevant and meaningful to support the future growth and expansion of local companies. The higher-level apprenticeships include a combination of 'on and off the job' training. The 'off the job' training element will be delivered by SERC on a day release basis.”
