Photography and art students at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) recently welcomed Jack Benkinsopp from Action Mental Health (AMH) to the College’s Bangor campus to present a cheque for £202.
The students raised the money from their exhibition “In Sight”, which was held at the Curve Gallery, Carnegie Library, Bangor earlier this year. The funds raised were donated to AMH, a mental health charity that deliver services and projects across Northern Ireland.
As part of their studies, the students were tasked with creating the work for the exhibition, promoting the exhibition through local press, radio, social media and internally with posters and e-invites. The event involved students from Level 3 Photography, Foundation Diploma in Photography and Art and Design, as well as music which was provided by HND Music students on the opening night.
Martina Corry, Lecturer in Art and Design said, “The students did a fantastic job and the event was a great success raising over £200 for Action Mental Health. They learned a great deal from their experience of working as part of a team and the many factors involved in bringing such an event to the public. The students showed initiative, willingness to get involved and great attention to detail. I am very proud of them all! "
