"Grow Your Vegetables in a Pot" is an exciting partnership that brings together the Murlough Community Association and SERC. The project aims to hold 4 ‘grow your vegetables in a pot’ events in Newcastle, Co Down.  Each event will teach 30 households in the Murlough community how to plant and harvest vegetables in a pot.  The goal is to empower local people to continue an affordable, healthier and enjoyable approach to supplying a healthy diet for many years after the event.

This initiative will:

  • Provide the local community of Murlough with knowledge and skills to continue growing their own vegetables in a pot.
  • Provide the families participating in the events with the knowledge of the importance of each vegetable on general health.
  • Provide families with a fun and healthy outdoor activity.

The project organisers are delighted to announce that the partnership funding application for a 'Grow Your Vegetables in a Pot Project' has reached the final in the Tesco Community Grants Scheme and the project will be put forward to a customer vote in Tesco stores.  Voting will commence in store from 1st October and continue to 31st December 2021.
