Close contact services may be in lockdown but learning never stops for everyone at SERC who are online. That includes our Level 2 and Level 3 Barbering students who are looking forward to an online guest speaker visit from Mike Taylor, Head Educator from the Great British Barbering Academy on Thursday 14 January

Martha Craig, Deputy Head of School of Performing and Creative Arts at SERC said, “This year has been challenging but we are determined to keep our students on track for their qualifications.  When it is possible for students to be on campus, they are completing practical work, and when classes are online, we are covering all the theory from lecturing staff and of course guest speakers working in the sector.

“We are delighted that Poole-based, Mike Taylor from the Great British Barbering Academy, will join with 24 students from the Level 1 and Level 2 Barbering courses to give students an insight into the industry.

She added, “Mike, co-founder of the Academy, has grown his barbering business from one shop when he was 20 to a plethora of shops across the South of England.   His entrepreneurship will be inspirational to our students and we are looking forward to a lively question and answer session given the current challenges for the hairdressing and barbering industry. “
