SERC Careers Team recently organised 'Community Support Organisation’ events across the College’s Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards campuses, giving students important information that will inform their plans after College.

During the events, students, as well as parents and carers, were given the opportunity to connect with local community and disability support organisations to explore the training, education and employability support available to them after they move on from their studies at SERC.

Students also had the opportunity to talk to exhibitors about potential volunteering and job opportunities within their respective organisations. Exhibitors included Action Mental Health, Belfast Works Connect, Department for the Economy Careers Service, Cedar Foundation, Disability Action, King’s Trust, Mencap, Neurodiversity UK, NOW Group, Orchardville Society, Ulster Supported Employment Limited, and YMCA - North Down.

Shirley Moore commented, "The events provided an invaluable opportunity for students and their families to connect with community and disability support organisations. This engagement allowed them to explore the various training, education, and employability support options available as students transition from their studies. Students attending all thought it was a great opportunity to speak with organisations about their options and what help they could get with training and employment support in the future. These events highlighted the importance of community collaboration in supporting student success."
