Students who have just completed their A-Levels or are awaiting GCSE results are encouraged to find out about the full range of options open to them so they can make informed choices about their future – even after they have their results.

Ken Webb, SERC Principal and Chief Executive said, “Deciding on the next step after leaving school can be a daunting and anxious time for young people and their parents who may not know about all the courses or learning opportunities available. Some people may have performed under their expectations, while others may be unsure about which route to take once they have their results. The important thing is not to panic and ensure everyone is fully versed in all the options open to them.

“Our team of expert careers advisors can talk young people through their individual situations so they can see what options are available to them, not only at SERC but further afield.  Our Careers team are accredited with the Matrix Standard for the quality of their career education, information, advice and guidance service and we were the first College in Northern Ireland to receive accreditation back in 2009.   The service is open to everyone.

He concluded, “It is vital that young people are aware of the full range of options available to help them make better, informed choices. I encourage them to come along to SERC to hear about their options. Our goal is to make it easier and more accessible for school leavers to source all the information they need to make decisions about their future.”

SERC offer a range of higher-level qualifications including HNCs, HNDs, Foundation Degrees, Higher Level Apprenticeships and Degree programmes in subjects ranging from, for example, HNCs in Applied Biology through to HND in Engineering to a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from Liverpool John Moores University.  Applications are still open for higher level courses commencing September 2019. Visit apply.serc.ac.uk to secure your place.

On 22 and 23 August, students awaiting their GCSE results will be welcome to SERC Campuses for our Further Education Open Days when students can enrol on post GCSE courses including Apprenticeships, Diplomas and Extended Diplomas.

To make an appointment, with SERC’s Careers team email: careers@serc.ac.uk or call the College on 0345 600 7555 and ask for the careers team at the nearest campus.
