At SERC, we kick off the new academic year with Enterprise Fortnight. This means students working in teams to create solutions to real-world, industryrelevant challenges.
Enterprise Fortnight presents a fantastic opportunity to put sustainability at the heart of your work. Figuring out how to live and work in more sustainable ways must be a key priority for the 21 st century and presents an exciting challenge for budding entrepreneurs. With this in mind, we have put together some questions that we hope will inspire your next PBL project!
- In what ways could the waste generated in college be repurposed?
- How can we reduce the waste created in the first instance?
- How can you adapt or change the way you work to be more sustainable? Think about the materials and equipment you use and how you use them.
- How can you help others to adapt or change how they work or live to be more sustainable?
- What environmental issues does the current pandemic create? What are the solutions to these?
Your project may result in a product, service or idea. Remember to use the skills and knowledge you are gaining in your course to inform your efforts.
Send your questions, queries and requests for support to gogreen@serc.ac.uk. The Enterprise Innovation Advisors are happy to come into classes, virtually or on campus, to explain how they can help.
You can also turn your PBL project into a ‘Go Green Pledge’ and have the opportunity for your eco efforts to be recognised by a ‘Green Star Award.’ Simply fill in the template and email to gogreen@serc.ac.uk.
The Go Green Team will keep in touch with those who submit pledges to find out how they are getting on and to provide support.
