Global Entrepreneurship Week

Today the Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and Environment team will be hosting a live event on Thursday 11th November to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) empowers nascent entrepreneurs and those who face systemic barriers to start and scale their own company. Through GEW, the Entrepreneur Club want to spotlight impactful voices and local organisations -- as well as inspire students and help to empower budding entrepreneurs within SERC.

SERC will be hosting a panel discussion today with successful local entrepreneurs James Blake, Robert Ferguson, Ryan Scollan, Karishma Kusurkar and our very own Entrepreneur in Residence Terence Brannigan.   The event will cover a range of topics such as:

  • Are entrepreneurs born or made? (Can you learn to become an entrepreneur? Is experience key?)
  • How do you define success?
  • Is social media indispensable to modern marketing? (How do we use it effectively for business?)
  • Being eco/green is no longer a USP. Modern companies must consider sustainability. Your thoughts?
  • What is the future of innovation in NI, in your opinion?

The event will be held in the theatre at the College’s SPACE building in Bangor at 1.30pm and will last 1 hour.  The event will also be live streamed by SERC’s Creative Developers team, but staff and students are welcomed to come along and join in the live audience from 1pm.  If you wish to attend the event please e-mail GetTheEdge@serc.ac.uk

New to LinkedIn?

Did you know that LinkedIn, the professional social networking platform, has actually been around longer than Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram? But it's more relevant now than ever.

By creating a standout profile and building the right network, you are also opening yourself up to career opportunities. Your LinkedIn profile becomes a version of an online CV and it is common for employers to search for and view during the recruiting process.

The Enterprise and Entrepreneurship team have created a video with some helpful tips on setting up your profile and building connections!
