Come along to our Further Education, Traineeship and Apprenticeships Enrolment Days on Thursday 24 August, 9am-5pm and Friday 25 August, 9am-3pm at our Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards Campuses. 

Applications are still open. We have a great range of courses ranging from Entry level to Level 3 Extended Diplomas.

Further Education / Traineeship Courses

APPLICANTS WITH A CONDITIONAL OFFER:

If you have received confirmation of a Conditional Offer, YOU SHOULD STAY AT HOME and follow the below instructions:

  1. You should upload any results to your online application account as soon as you receive them (or now if you already have some of them) 
  2. As soon as you have uploaded your results to your online account, you need to go to ‘Enrolment Check-in’ on your online application account
  3. If successful, you will receive an email confirming enrolment
  4. If you do not achieve the required grades, please still come along to Campus and we will endeavour to enrol you on a more suitable course.  We will have Careers advisors on site to assist. 

APPLICANTS WITHOUT A CONDITIONAL OFFER

  1. You should upload any results to your online account as soon as you receive them (or now if you already have some of them) 
  2. As soon as you have uploaded your results to your online account, YOU NEED TO ATTEND CAMPUS to confirm your enrolment
  3. If successful, you will receive an email confirming enrolment
  4. If you do not achieve the required grades, please still come along to Campus and we will endeavour to enrol you on a more suitable course.  We will have Careers advisors on site to assist

Apprenticeship Applicants

  1. You should upload any results to your online account as soon as you receive them (or now if you already have some of them) 
  2. As soon as you have uploaded your results to your online account, YOU NEED TO ATTEND CAMPUS to confirm your enrolment, whether you have a Conditional Offer or not.  ALL Apprenticeship students need to attend Campus.
  3. If successful, you will receive an email confirming enrolment
  4. If you do not achieve the required grades, please still come along to Campus and we will endeavour to enrol you on a more suitable course.  We will have Careers advisors on site to assist. 

Further Education Students – Fees & Funding Information

Full time Further Education students are generally not required to pay tuition fees, with the exception of A level students aged 19 or over on 1 July 2023.

Further Education students can avail of financial support to assist them during their studies including:

  • Further Education Grant – a means tested grant of up to £2,092 for Students aged 19 or over, to assist with maintenance/living costs. Applications close on 28 October 2023, however, you should apply as soon as possible.
  • Education Maintenance Allowance – a means tested £30 weekly allowance for students aged 16-19.  You should apply as soon as possible as payments can only be backdated up to the end of September.
  • Home to College Travel Pass – A travel pass for Further Education students aged under 19 on 1 July and who live 3 or more miles from College.  Students who are eligible to apply for a travel pass should apply online on the EA’s website Home to School Transport.
  • Free School Meals – Students can apply for Free School Meals providing they have not reached the age of 18 on or before 31 July and are NOT attending a paid training course.
  • Student Support Fund – Means tested assistance with maintenance, travel, books & materials and childcare costs.  Students should have exhausted all other sources of funding before applying to the Support Fund.  FE Grant students and those who are too old for the EA travel pass, can apply for travel assistance through the Support Fund

SERC Careers Service

Know your Next Step SERC careers service provides impartial, confidential career guidance to help students make informed career choices. The team can give you information and guidance on career related questions.  There are Careers Officers based in Bangor, Ards, Downpatrick and Lisburn providing students with one-to-one career guidance appointments and quick query drop-in sessions over the August enrolment period. The team organise career events throughout the academic year for SERC students, which includes visiting speakers, careers fairs, mock interviews and much more.
