Fun All Round at Newcastle Fundraising Event

A Fun Day fundraising event recently took place at SERC’s Newcastle campus.

The fundraiser coincided with the last day of term for many of our Newcastle based students as well as our “Little SERC” creche graduation, so there was plenty to celebrate!

There were many carnival games on campus for people to play including mini golf, darts and hook a fish. All the games were made by the amazing staff and students of the college who used recycled materials. As well as the carnival games there was bunny petting, mini pizzas, bouncy castles and raffle prizes.

The day helped raise £500, which will go to former student Michelle Madine, whose daughter Ellie was diagnosed with a brain tumour in August 2021. This led to several operations, including the removal of a brain tumour, but unfortunately Ellie never recovered from the surgery and has been left with complex needs and requires round the clock care.

Ellie’s condition is called Sleeping Beauty, as she will never waken or recover. The funds raised will go towards helping Michelle and Philip with ongoing bills and buy unfunded equipment that will help Ellie when she comes home.
