The College’s annual Enterprise Showcase got off to a successful start with first year students from across SERC leading the way with their project-based learning (PBL) presentations on a vast array of innovative, creative, enterprising and entrepreneurial ideas up for judging by both academic and corporate staff.
Lizzie Buick, Deputy Head of Enterprise said, “As per many events this year, the format was a little different with judging taking place in classrooms, however the usual buzz and excitement was still present.
“Students received live feedback from judges who also submitted scores in the digital Enterprise Portal using the event rubric as a guide. Ideas that were particularly innovative, entrepreneurial or eco-friendly were highlighted through a sticker system as were students who had excelled with communication/presentations skills, or if their project might have a highly positive social impact. Most importantly, all students had the opportunity to discuss their challenges and solution and receive feedback.
She concluded, “Judges reported being extremely impressed by the efforts and creativity of projects across the College with the work from Hospitality & Catering and Motor Vehicle students standing out on the day.”
It seems the work of the first-year students has set the bar high for year 2 and year 3 students who will present at week two of the Enterprise Showcase next week.
Good luck everyone!
