South Eastern Regional College (SERC) recently hosted an engineering employer’s forum at the College’s Space Campus to encourage collaboration and networking opportunities.
SERC’s Trudy Patterson, Curriculum Manager, School of Engineering said, “We have a fantastic relationship with many of the engineering employers in the area which we want to strengthen. This event was designed not only to showcase provision and facilities here at SERC, but to give local employers the opportunity to have a say on the curriculum delivered within the college at Apprenticeships, FE and HE levels, thus ensuring our students are equipped to match the skills required by employers.
She added, “We were delighted to have such positive feedback from employers for student enrichment by way of work experience, facility tours, guest speakers and the opportunity to work with our students on real industrial projects. Altogether this makes a sound ‘package’ both for students and potential employers ensuring our students are up to speed on the industry and ‘work ready’ even before they walk out the doors of SERC.”
