South Eastern Regional College (SERC) is recruiting participants for a fully funded intensive programme aimed at reskilling furloughed employees or those whose current roles may be at risk of redundancy.

The Skills Intervention Programme, funded by the Department for Economy, offers the opportunity for candidates to gain recognised qualifications which are  in demand for the energy and renewable sector such as Gas and Anaerobic Digestion, Electrical Vehicle Charging, Heat Pumps and Green Technologies including Zero Carbon House. The courses, set to commence from October and November 2020 for 17 weeks, are subject to specific eligibility criteria.

Paul Henry, Energy and Renewable Consultant at SERC said, “COVID-19 has presented many challenges to the business community and it is vital those employees who have been furloughed or who are at risk of redundancy are supported.

He added, “The Skills Intervention Programme, focuses on upskilling and reskilling in key growth areas within the economy and there is a demand for employees in the continually developing energy and renewable sectors.  Participants will be on campus 2 days per week for 17 weeks at either our Professionals Skills Centre in Dundrod or our Newtownards Campus.

“This fully-funded vocational training will help prepare candidates for the return to their current employment or facilitate a move to new employment – both options are necessary to rebuild the Northern Ireland economy.”

Places are limited.  Interested candidates should send an expression of interest, stating the course they are interested in, including their telephone number, to Debbie Scott by email at: DScott@serc.ac.uk.
