SERC’s Business Services Team, used to meeting up with employers, business and industry professionals and face to face to plan delivery of bespoke programmes, training and services tailored to a range of sectors, have been adjusting to the seismic shift to online/remote delivery to meet the continuing needs of clients.

Emma Finney,  Commercial Contracts Manager said, “We are hugely proud of the way in which the entire team have responded to what is a deeply challenging situation for everyone.  The unwavering commitment to our learners and InnovateUS clients shows the admirable determination of the delivery staff as they continue with remote learning.  In what has  become quite negative and worrying times, we would like to share some positive news on how we have been able to maintain learning, and also how we are looking towards the future when this current crisis is over."

Niall Dunstall, Training Consultant, Digital Transformation said, “I am continuing on with delivering Social Media Level 2 in the evenings. I have had to make alterations to tasks and course content to accommodate the change in delivering remotely but I am pleased to report it is working well.  My makeshift home office (pictured above) has allowed me to continue with mentoring remotely on InnovateUs projects.

He added, “I had a final session with a current client, At Your Best Tutoring, which went extremely well, and I am planning to start with a new batch of clients very soon.  Staying in touch with the wider Business Services team is hugely important in regard to future projects, and of course for collective support both professionally and mentally."

Ashleigh Hamilton, Training Consultant, Digital Tranformation said, “Bangor evening Social Media Level 2 class has just completed using remote teaching and I have received with some positive words about the class: “Thanks again for everything, I’ve really enjoyed the class and would definitely be interested in the next level” – Blue Build Energy

“Thank you for all of your fantastic support, wisdom and fun.” – Nicole McWhinney                                                                                                                                                        She added, “Overall feedback has been good in relation to teaching remotely.  Microsoft Teams has proved a fantastic tool as students find it easy to navigate and don’t feel they are missing out on anything by not being taught face to face.  InnovateUs clients have communicated that they are keen to spend the time currently upskilling so they can “relaunch” their business later in the year.”

Olivia Hamill, Training Consultant, Leadership and Management said, “On Wednesday evening the CMI Level 5 Leadership and Management class that is usually based in Bangor Campus participated in their first remote live lesson. The class that consists of students from different sectors were able to interact and offer each other comfort during this difficult time.  Even though we had the odd cat 'meowing' through the live lesson, the students were able to progress in the learning of the current unit of ‘Managing the Customer Experience.'  They were able to ask questions to clarify their misconceptions. One student took the time to write the following message:  "Thanks again for keeping us all monitoring on Olivia...” This highlights the importance of adopting different delivery styles to offer some sort of normality.”
