Sustrans, a UK-based walking, wheeling and cycling charity, will be offering guidance, advice, and tips at workshops throughout March and April. You must book in advance. 

Workshops - Level 1 Cycle Training – Back on Your Bike

Back On Your Bike is designed to build your confidence cycling and make you feel ready for everyday journeys. If you can already cycle but perhaps haven’t been out on your bicycle for a while, this course will give you a little bit of support to get started again. The session lasts for 2 hours and will cover basic cycling skills and advice for returning cyclists. 

Dates times and locations: 

  • Monday 13 March @ 1.30pm to 3.30pm Downpatrick 
  • Monday 20 March @ 1.30pm to 3.30pm Newry 

Bring your own bike and helmet, if you have them, if you don’t there is a limited number of bikes and helmets available to borrow. 

Workshops - E-Bike Trials – E-bikes Will Be Provided 

Book a 30-minute session and with the guidance of Sustrans experienced and qualified staff, you will have the opportunity to trial an e-bike. This training session is for adults who can already cycle. The training will take place in a traffic-free environment, away from busy roads. 

  • Thursday 16 March in Newry - (30mins slot between 10am and 3pm) 
  • Thursday 30 March in Downpatrick (30mins slot between 10am and 3pm) 

There are 6 slots available on each day – you can book one slot from the following: 

  • 10am to 10.30am 
  • 10.45am to 11.15am 
  • 11.30am to 12 noon 
  • 1pm to 1.30pm 
  • 1.45pm to 2.15pm 
  • 2.30pm to 3pm
