Class of 2020 - Virtual Graduation and Competition

SERC’s Annual Graduation, one of the highlights of the College year, like many events across the world, has had to be adapted due to Covid 19, and for the first time, SERC will be hosting a Virtual Graduation for Class of 2020 to recognise the hard work and success of our students at the end of their courses.  

Plans are afoot to host a Graduation Ceremony, as usual in the Belfast Waterfront Hall, in January 2021, but ultimately the final decision depends on Government guidelines. Once a rescheduled date has been confirmed, we will notify students and the date will also be shared on our website and social media channels.

We understand that the news of not having an in-person graduation in September 2020 will be disappointing to many, but the safety of our students, their guests and our staff remains paramount. Students will still officially graduate ‘in absentia’ and receive their awards. When certificates arrive at SERC graduates will receive a text message advising collection from the campus of study. Certificates will usually be available to collect from 1 October.

Win a laptop! 

Fancy getting your hands on a laptop? Perhaps you could make us of one for further studies or keeping in touch with family and friends?  We’re running a photo competition, exclusive to Class of 2020 graduates, and all you need do to be in with a chance of getting your hands on it is get creative and make your own graduation photo from home. The person submitting the photo we think is the most creative will win a laptop. 

To enter, send your creative graduation photo to marketing@serc.ac.uk with the subject line “Photo Competition” before 30 August. Include the following information in your email: 

- Full Name 
- Student ID 
- Email Address 
- Contact Number 
- Course Studied 

Please only submit a high-resolution photograph of yourself - this could be taken on a camera or your phone but please send the original file.
