Staff members from SERC Janice Chaib, SERC Personal Assistant and Directorate Support Officer and Joanne White, SERC Learning Resource Centre Assistant with support from SERC’s Engineering department recently raised £100 for Air Ambulance N.I. Charity.

The event was hosted by the Hillsborough Hoedowners and Boots ‘n’ Buckles Line Dancing Clubs. Janice and Joanne, who are both avid line dancers and members of the group, came up with the innovative plan to involve SERC’s Engineering department to create a bespoke product that could raise money at the event’s auction.

Trevor Breadon, SERC Head for Engineering and Computing and William Baker and SERC Technician in Manufacturing and Fabrication designed and created a weathervane in the shape of a helicopter which was embellished with Air Ambulance N.I.’s call sign.

Grace Williams, Air Ambulance N.I. Area Fundraising Manager said, “The quality and design of the weathervane was amazing. I was thrilled with the amount raised, the support and generosity of SERC has been amazing and means that we can continue to help people in life-threatening situations.”
