The 2022 UN theme for International Women's Day is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow", looking to highlight the contribution of women and girls around the globe, who participate in their communities promoting on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, to build a more sustainable future for all.
The mission for women in business is to forge inclusive work cultures where women's careers thrive, and their achievements are celebrated. Here at SERC, through our Entrepreneur Club, we have created an environment where all students are supported and celebrated in their business endeavours.
The Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and the Environment Team wish to celebrate those women in our community who are inspiring change and have built successful enterprises around business and the environment. The Entrepreneur Club are delighted to be hosting an online event on Teams hosted by special guest, Katie Matthews to celebrate International Women's Day.
You can sign up for the webinar by clicking here.
Katie Matthews is a great support for SERC Entrepreneur Club and has been involved with previous workshops, events and was a judge at the 2021 Enterprise Expo. Katie Matthews is a multi-award-winning entrepreneur, growth mindset educator, speaker, founder, mentor, trauma-informed practitioner and mental health and wellbeing trainer. Katie is the founder of The Mind Tribe UK, a mental health and wellbeing training and consultancy business, and a tuition company, Excel In Education Tutoring School. With a passion for youth development and leadership, combined with entrepreneurship and mental health, Katie established the Young Entrepreneur’s Network Northern Ireland, as a voluntary organisation and dedicated platform for young entrepreneurs and business professionals across Northern Ireland, aged 18-30. Not one to rest on her laurels, she has also co-founded several companies and is Director of Global Entrepreneurship Week UK for the Global Entrepreneurship Network. It’s no surprise that she has racked up some impressive accolades, most recently being named on the NI 30 Under 30 Entrepreneur List by the Belfast Telegraph.
Part of Katie’s ethos is to give back to the community, and so we are delighted to have Katie join us to discuss female entrepreneurship and leadership and how we can support more women into entrepreneurship here at SERC.
Head to the Entrepreneur's Club where we have also highlighted links to external events coming up locally and online to celebrate International Women’s Day and where you can learn of the journeys into business from female entrepreneurs in your community in our ‘International Women's Day: Local Women in Business’ feature.
