Two hundred and ninety-five staff attended this year’s Academic Staff Development Day across SERC Downpatrick, Lisburn and Bangor campuses.
A wide variety of sessions were offered including ‘Alternative Assessment in AI’, ‘Working Smarter with AI’ and ‘TSkills Using Notebook’ being the most popular sessions picked. These sessions were hosted by new acting Head of the Learning Academy Diane Weatherup and established mentors Gillian Auld and Kenny McDowell. Other popular sessions included ‘Yoga and Tai Chi’ with Linda Martin and Declan McClure supporting colleagues. Teaching staff also enjoyed ‘Barista Training Sessions’ under the expert supervision and guidance of Sinead Scott, Lecturer in Hospitality Management, kindly sharing her expertise in this field.
Nichola Heron, Learning and Development Manager, comments “A massive thank you to all staff who participated and supported academic staff development including our other pedagogy mentors Bennett Chandran, Mike Holmes and Mary Gillies, as well as Owen Parkes, Paul Hamilton, Lizzie Buick, Stuart Rankin, and Gary Ritchie, who shared their expertise on T Skills and M Skills so generously. Thanks also to Noel O’Hare who helped us master the SERC Report Centre and to Paul Walsh and his team of Mental Health Champions who guided us in how best to support our students. A final thank you also goes to Kerri Martin and Robyn Hume, we are immensely grateful for their meticulous organisational skills and for being on call for any queries.”
