This year, Hannah Dunwoody, a Higher-Level Apprentice in Mechatronics at SERC, is a finalist in the competition. Hannah comments, "I had been finishing off assignments and knew the Catalyst Invent 2020 was coming up, so I thought I would make a submission as I had the time to work on my idea and develop it a bit further.  I didn’t even tell my lecturers at SERC I was going to enter, I just thought, ‘Let’s see where this goes’. Of course there was a lot of work to put in to get this far, and the competition - which included fellow SERC students, The Water Boys - was stiff, so am thrilled to be a finalist."

Watch the video below from Invent 2020 about Hannah and her invention.

Along with Hannah, fellow SERC student company the Water Boys will find out if they are winners as well at the event.  Their semi-final pitch landed them an invitation to compete in the 2020 Student Final, a category created by Catalyst this year to recognise the significant number of impressive student entries.  The event takes place on 8th October, online, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and is free. Click here to register now in advance of the event to gain live access.

We at SERC wish all students participating the best of luck.
