Carla Boyle, 23, from Newcastle, is studying Level 3 Health and Social Care at SERC through the work-based apprenticeship route to attain the qualifications necessary to progress in the workplace.
Following graduation from Glyndwr University, Wales, Carla secured employment with T-Gem Healthcare in Newcastle. Carla said, “I am a Senior Carer which mostly involves caring for people in the home with person-centred care and as a Senior I also have a responsibility for rotas and care plans. I fell in love with the job as soon as I started - it is a good fit for me as I have always wanted to help people.”
She added, “My line manager recommended the work-based apprenticeship at SERC and following the health and social care course has been invaluable in my role. It has made me more confident in the work that I am doing, ensured I am more knowledgeable in the procedures to follow and has helped me deliver the very best person-centred care.”
Carla concluded, “I am really enjoying my course and am looking forward to further study with SERC. My tutor was always available for help and support if needed. My overall experience has been 10 out of 10. I would highly recommend the apprenticeship programme - it’s the best thing I ever did.”
