Caring Students attend Active Aging Event

Coffee and Connect was on the menu for first and second year Health and Social Care students at Lisburn LeisurePlex this morning.  The students were taking part in a World Mental Health Day initiative which allowed them to meet up with community organisations as well as older people from the Lisburn area.  

Lecturer, Deborah Flynn said, “This was a great opportunity for our students to find out more about many of the community services and organisations in the local area, and to meet older people living locally.   

She added, “The event sits perfectly with our PBL work and gives the students the opportunity to improve their communication skills whilst finding out about what we can all do to improve our mental health - one important aspect is making connections, which is what today’s event was all about.”
