Please draw your students’ attention to the Progression Bursary – reminding them of progression opportunities from your course within the College.

The SERC Progression Bursary aims to help current Further Education (FE) Level 3 students at SERC progress to full-time Higher Education courses at SERC.  This is a non-repayable, non means tested bursary payment of £500 cash in each year of the student's HE course and is being offered to support students who choose to continue their studies with the College from FE to full-time HE level.

The bursary will be available to all SERC Level 3 students who meet the criteria. The sum of £500 per year of study, will be paid annually in the January following the commencement of the academic year to those students who continue the course after the Christmas break and do not drop out.  Potentially, this could be worth £1000 or £1500 to any student who is studying a two or three-year course with us.

An attendance level of at least 80% will be required in order for students to be eligible to receive the payments.

The bursary will be introduced for students commencing a full-time HE course in September 2022 as a pilot initiative. It will be paid for the duration of the course (if criteria are met). The bursary initiative will be reviewed in February 2023 to determine if it will be offered to new students.

If you have any queries about the bursary, please contact your Head of School.
