One of the requirements under UK GDPR is that records are not to be kept for longer than is necessary.

One of the requirements under UK GDPR is that records are not to be kept for longer than is necessary. To help us meet our obligations we have produced a Record and Disposal Schedule which will help, and guide staff to manage their records by providing the timeframes we must retain documents for.

The Schedule applies to all documentation i.e. electronic/hardcopy and personal/non-personal records.

Hardcopy documents which are eligible for disposal should be destroyed in line with the Confidential Waste SOP (Data Protection Handbook SOP – Section 4, Page 11)

The College has a duty to evidence activities. The Retention and Disposal Schedule will be within the scope of audit to monitor compliance.

Staff members can contact the Records Manager at any time for advice and/or guidance. Please click here to the Retention and Disposal Schedule SOP.
