Students from the art and design courses in Downpatrick Campus concluded the year with an end of year exhibition.

Friends and family were invited to view a range of paintings, sculptures and installations created by students from the Level 2, Level 3 and the Foundation Degree programmes.

Charles Walsh, Lecturer in Fine Art said, “It is wonderful to finish the year on a high note and we were thrilled to celebrate the students’ success with an end of year exhibition.   This gives the students the opportunity to showcase their work alongside their peers, students from other courses, and to present it for public viewing.  It really is a celebration of how far they have progressed during the year.”

Amongst the artworks exhibited was a moving piece by Aidan Sloan, from the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and Media Practice, featuring a double-sided painting in a window frame on a plinth of covid testing kit boxes.

Charles concluded, “Many of this years’ cohort are progressing within SERC and we look forward to welcoming them back to College in September, and we wish every success for the future to those student progressing to employment or higher education.”
