Fire and Security apprentices at SERC topped up their industry training by participating in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session on Fire Detection Design Considerations organised by Diamond Systems during Apprenticeship Week 2021.

Stuart Rankin, Deputy Head of School Construction and Engineering said, “This has been an extremely useful session taking the learners through Fire Detection Design Consideration. Not only will this help the students with their assessments, but it provides them with much needed knowledge for their roles in industry. It’s great to see a local company providing such useful CPD and supporting the future generation of the industry and we would like to thank Angela and Steve from Diamond Systems for supporting our staff and apprentices in the delivery of the CPD session.”

Angela Bennett, Joint Managing Director of Diamond Systems, said, “We were delighted to be able to deliver our CIBSE Approved CPD on Fire Detection Design Considerations to the Fire Alarm Apprentices at SERC. The course covers key design considerations, as well as highlighting some of the common pitfalls, for example in relation to detector selection, siting, and spacing. These apprentices are the future of our industry and have a great career path ahead of them, which could ultimately include the design of fire alarm systems.”
