Apprenticeship students put their skills and knowledge to the test at SERC’s intercampus Heavy Vehicle competition which took place at the college recently.

Course Coordinator, Ian McClure said “The competition this year tested the apprentices on their skills and abilities across a range of tasks, including safety inspection, measuring engine components, and wiring electrical circuits. These are all skills and abilities our apprentices will be faced with at work. We have been really impressed with the high standard and commitment shown from our apprentices.”

Ian concluded, “I would like to congratulate each young apprentice who took part – this is a tough competition which requires a wealth of diligence and skill. Special thanks to the support staff, technicians and judges that make competitions possible.”

First place was awarded to JP Macauley (Crumlin) L3 Heavy Vehicle App, Brian Grant Commercial pictured with Sam Simpson.
