A Lovely Time Had By All At SERC’s Valentine's Markets

South Eastern Regional College (SERC) was delighted to host its Valentine's Markets across Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards campuses recently, providing an opportunity for people to buy something special for a loved one. 

Hosted by the College’s Enterprise Team, the stalls allowed the enterprising students the opportunity to develop and enhance their business skills by setting up a stall to sell their own products and services to those looking to buy something special for a Valentine's Day gift. Stalls included cards, crafts, crochet items, jewellery, paintings, baked goods, eco-friendly products, flowerpots, and much more.

This was a platform for students to gain real-life experience in creating products, working out costings and pricing, marketing their business, and dealing with customers face to face. There was also the bonus of bringing entrepreneurs together in one space which allowed for great networking and collaboration opportunities. The Fairs were a great way for students to develop key transversal skills, which will help them prepare for the world of work or self-employment.
