Why Study This Course

This course is aimed at 16 year olds who have just left school having obtained their GCSE's.  Students will earn and develop skills in relation to fitting and assembly of related parts, safe handling of refrigerants, brazing standards, electrical component wiring/testing triple evacuation and fabrication and assembly of pipe work related to refrigeration

This course is ideal for those who are in employment and want to pursue a career in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.

Course Overview

The apprenticeship is delivered through a blend of practical on-the-job training and classroom-based learning. Apprentices will spend most of their time working with an employer, gaining valuable industry experience while attending college or a training provider for theoretical lessons. The course includes assessments, practical tasks and exams to ensure competency in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning skills.

You will need:

  • a minimum of 5 GCSEs including at least Grade C in English and Maths OR
  • equivalent Essential Skills Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy
  • to have secured an employer in the trade

Applicants will be required to undertake a skills aptitude test

• Safe handling of refrigerants

Successful completion of this programme will enable you to progress to apply to employment as a trainee refrigeration / air-conditioning technician or the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Refrigeration.
