Carpentry & Joinery Trainees Gain Insight on Workshop Tour

SERC Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery trainees recently had an enriching educational tour of Branniff Joinery and Fit-Out Workshop, located just outside Banbridge. 

Upon arrival, the students were greeted by Branniff Joinery and Fit-Out craftsmen, who guided them through the various areas of the workshop.  

The first stop on the tour was the design drawing offices, where students learned about the importance of the planning and design stage of joinery projects. They observed how detailed drawings translate into functional and aesthetically pleasing woodwork. 

The students were then taken to the joinery workshop, where they saw the 3 Axis CNC machine in action. Students watched the machine precisely cut out circular rings, showcasing the efficiency and accuracy that technology brings to modern carpentry.  

Other areas visited included the laminating area, in which students learned about the processes involved in creating strong, durable products. They also visited the bench area, where hands-on craftsmanship takes centre stage. The final stop on the tour was the spraying area, which highlighted the finishing touches of projects that contribute to the overall quality and appearance of woodwork.
