Health and social care students raise money for Helping Hands

Last month health and social care students from the Newtownards Campus organised a charity bake sale to raise money for the charity Helping Hands.

Helping Hands was established by the medical staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children in 1997 with the single aim of helping the children in their care and operates through a board of trustees and fundraises exclusively for “The Children’s Hospital”.

With some very tasty tray bakes, the students raised £154 for the charity. By supporting Helping Hands, the money raised will help to purchase vital new equipment to diagnose and the young patients, to provide facilities and services for families and to fund research into children’s illnesses.

Nikki Rainey, Lecture Health and Care said that “The event was a tremendous success and feedback from students has been positive.”

The students would like to thank everyone who supported them in raising valuable funds for the Helping Hands charity.
