SERC recently welcomed local artists from Boom! Studios to the SPACE Campus Bangor for a demonstration of a diverse range of engineering processes.

Boom! Studios was established in December 2014 by a small group of local creative practitioners wishing to create a vibrant workspace. Boom! Studios provides 18 studio spaces and 4 desk spaces, housing a variety of artists, designers and makers, a workshop space and a small gallery space where they can develop their individual enterprises. Boom! Studios is open to the local community and offers a range of creative workshops, activities and events.

During their visit, the artists had the opportunity to see the different engineering processes that SERC have in house and see how technology can help turn some of their concepts and imaginations into reality. The processes included laser cutting and engraving, plasma cutting, CNC milling and 3D printing.

SERC Head of School of Engineering and Computing Trevor Breadon said “It has been a wonderful opportunity to welcome the artists to the College. It was a great opportunity to showcase the high quality of teaching and learning on offer and our world class facilities within the college to both upskill young people who want to work in industry and businesses.”
