The most common symptoms of menopause are:

  • Hot flushes where you experience short, sudden bursts of heat.
  • Difficulty sleeping which may be caused by hot flushes at night.
  • Changes to your mood, ability to concentrate and memory.
  • Changes to your sex drive.
  • Weight gain and a slowing metabolism.

Having a healthy lifestyle helps to manage the symptoms of menopause and can include:

  • Getting enough sleep
  • Eating well and exercising
  • Avoiding too much alcohol or other substances

There is no medical treatment for menopause, but medication and therapy can help you with the symptoms and you should seek advice from your GP.
