WRAP Recycle Week 2020: Together We Recycle

Now in its 17th year, Recycle Week is a celebration of recycling, organised by WRAP under the Recycle Now brand.
In 2020, Recycle Week runs 21st-27th September and the theme this year will be thanking the nation for continuing to recycle despite the challenges that COVID-19 has presented, under the banner 'Together - We Recycle'.
On their website, WRAP explain, ‘we want Recycle Week 2020 to recognise the sacrifices that key workers and citizens have made to keep recycling going and create positive change in the world around us. Our recycling and waste key workers have heroically carried on collecting while the world slowed down around them.’
SERC Eco-Committee would also like to acknowledge the hard work of key workers in waste and recycling, and to thank them, as well as the College’s caretaking staff, for continuing this during lockdown.
To support the recycling effort, the SERC Eco-Committee worked hard in 2019-2020 to secure funding for recycling bins for the College’s Lisburn, Bangor, Ards and Holywood campuses. SERC received £9,000 in funding from the Ards and North Down Borough Council for campuses within this area and a further £3,000 from Live Here Love Here for bins in the Lisburn campus. The Lisburn bins will include a number of innovative talking bins, so keep your eye—or better yet, ears—out for those ones! The Committee will also donate two innovative talking bins to the Lisburn Bus and Train Stations to support their anti-littering work.
We hope that this week we can uphold WRAP’s 2020 theme, Together – We Recycle!
