Covid-19 has seen an increase in the number of disposable masks going to landfill, and even ending up in our oceans. SERC's Go Green initiative and the concerns raised at the monthly eco committee meetings identified the need to raise awareness of the benefits of wearing a reusable mask, whether in college or out in public places.
This resulted in setting up stalls on each campus, providing reusable masks to staff and students who had not yet got their hands on one.
The videos aim is to create promotional materials to increase awareness of why you should ditch the disposable and opt for a reusable mask.
Eleven staff and students got involved including eco committee members, eco officers, green champions among others to help create a reusable mask campaign video which aims to promote the use of a reusable mask, and subsequently cut back on the number of disposable masks used by the college, which helps us continue our quest of a greener and more environmentally friendly college.
